Her Story
Scenic Lake with Kayakers

Stone Peonies was born out of the memory of a woman who believed in the magic of tending to living things, a mother to her core.

My mother didn’t just garden — she spoke to her plants. She watered her garden with care, sat for hours and chatted with neighbors while her hands were in the soil, and insisted the flowers bloomed better when they knew they were loved. She was such a fixture in our eastern Kansas neighborhood, people would knock on her door if they noticed her absence in her yard for a few days just to check on her.

In adulthood, when I told her my family was settling down in Oregon, she was ecstatic. She confided that she had always imagined moving to Oregon one day — a happy coincidence.  And upon her first visit, when she saw the lush, endless greens of the Willamette Valley, she lit up.

After my workday, she would insist I drive her through the winding backroads, windows down, laughter floating through the trees. So, of course, I did.  And, every single day, she’d sigh and say:

“I love every color, so long as it’s green.”

Today, almost as if she foretold it, she rests here.  Marked with her own stone, she is interred in her own quiet patch of the green and lush Oregon beauty she loved so much, visited by those who adored her — and gifted peonies handpicked from the flower farm legacy she inspired.

Why Stone Peonies?

I started Stone Peonies to carry her love forward — not just through skincare and art, but through intention. Our products are crafted the way she lived: with patience, care, and reverence for nature’s rhythms.

  • Our tallow skincare is made from grass-fed suet, hand-rendered and blended with botanicals known to soothe, restore, and nourish. They honor the ancestral traditions of slow skincare — no fillers, no shortcuts.

  • Our "Frozen in Time" peony custom art collection preserve real blooms at their most radiant, offering a piece of beauty as if forged in stone: never fades.

This brand is for her. But, it’s also for anyone who finds healing in nature, in blooming vibrancy, in the simple and beautiful act of devoting the time we have in service of what we love.

May my mother's legacy add warmth, peace, and a little bit of Oregon magic from our home to yours.
